P6 - Georgian Technical University - GTU

Georgian Technical University (GTU) is one of the biggest educational and scientific institutions in the South Caucasian region. It was founded in 1922. It’s a leading engineering higher educational institution and powerful scientific center. Consisting of 12 faculties (covering Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Law, Business, Social Sciences), 71 departments, 12 scientific-research institutes, GTU has 211 accredited educational programs. GTU is a full member of various international networks, including EUA, ITU. It has partner relationships with up to 58 local and 75 international research and scientific-educational organizations. GTU educational-scientific activities are funded by the local and international scientific organizations and funds, including TEMPUS (13 projects), Erasmus Mundus (5 projects), FP7 (6 projects), Erasmus+ KA1 (32 projects), Erasmus+ KA2 (3 projects). GTU participates in Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project for STEM Higher Education Development in Georgia. STEM programs include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering fields at GTU. GTU has advanced partnerships in the fields of education and research with the world's leading organizations, such as KEK (Japan), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Germany), CERN (Switzerland), JINR - Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna). GTU central scientiļ¬c library is one of the largest libraries in Georgia.

Role in the Project


Georgian Technical University will play an active role in the project implementation and will be actively engaged in complete set of activities, providing its expertise in most relevant area and will take part in relevant work packages, contributing with own knowledge to facilitate and support the research development from the institutional perspective. GTU staff will fully participate training and refining their research management and data analysis skills thus increasing its research capacity to manage research, monitor quality of the research products, support the cooperation between various local or international research universities. Herewith, appropriate communication and dissemination channels will be developed and sustained by GTU during the project, including sharing information about the Project and its outcomes on GTU media as well as at various local and international events, including the conferences, meetings, etc. GTU will lead WP2.5 and host a workshop on RM software usage.
